I’ve never chased attention, but the road has recognized my dedication. I’m a five-time Ohio State Truck Driving Champion, and I once placed 5th at the National Truck Driving Championships. One of my greatest honors was being selected for the America’s Road Team, a national safety and outreach program led by the American Trucking Associations. As a Road Team Captain, I was called on about once a month to travel the country—sometimes flying to events, other times driving one of the program’s dedicated trucks. At each stop, we taught the Share the Road program, helping new drivers and the public understand blind spots and truck safety. But those events weren’t just about education—they were about connecting over food, stories, and the flavors of America. From school events in Montana to outreach in Boston, I’ve tasted the country—one plate at a time.
That same passion for flavor brought me back every year to Jungle Jim’s Weekend of Fire, a legendary pepper and spice festival in Ohio. I came hungry. Every summer, I wandered from booth to booth chasing the hottest sauces on earth. I’d try anything once. Sometimes twice. That curiosity became the spark behind everything I do today. But my greatest teacher wasn’t a vendor—it was my wife, a gifted home cook from Ghana. Watching her work her magic with Scotch bonnets, habaneros, and rich African stews taught me something powerful: heat should never overpower—it should enhance. From her, I learned that spice isn’t about showing off—it’s about creating balance and soul in every bite. Together, we blended traditions—hers rooted in deep heritage, mine inspired by smoky roadside grills and pepper-drenched experiments.
In 2020, I got the grill of my dreams: a heavy-duty Blaze that could handle 55 burgers at once. It quickly became my weekend lab. I hosted cookouts with friends, tested new rubs on steaks, chicken, and veggies, and took mental notes on every reaction. If something needed tweaking—I tweaked it. If it lit up the table, I wrote it down. After years of fine-tuning, I developed three signature blends—each handcrafted in small batches with premium ingredients and a precise balance of heat and flavor. I named the brand SIR Savill’s Ideal Rubs—“SIR” as a nod to my nickname, and “Ideal” because nothing less than my best makes the cut.
